Lina Buso, born in Lima, Peru, is an artist whose work reflects a deep connection with the archive and memory. From her research and image selection process to creating collages in Photoshop and her final artwork, this inherent connection is evident. This is why we have titled her solo exhibition "Active Archive: Hidden Messages," a review of the concepts that have guided the work of this contemporary Peruvian artist. The exhibition spans works from 2014 to the present, and many of them visually interweave with more recent pieces, in a crossroads of archives that is characteristic of the artist. This visual restructuring of the past, mixing baroque images with contemporary political figures, old works by the artist herself, and personal and friends' photographs, allows for a reconnection with her history in an organic way, without imposing a linear notion of time.
